Anna and Doug ~ Wedding

Saturday I made the trip up to Chapel Hill to shoot Anna and Doug's beautiful wedding. I was so excited to see the church when I went to check it out on Thursday, it's so beautiful. I think I was even more excited when I saw Anna's dress! This is a really long post so you might want to go get a snack!

Wedding ~ Christie & Ed ~ MEGA POST

June 28th I had the pleasure of shooting Christie and Ed's big day! From what I'm told this was 2 years in the making. Ed and Christie live in England so they flew across the "pond" for the big event! I had such a great time shooting their wedding, Christie was so excited! Enjoy this huge post, I did narrow the images down from about 40.

This broach was Ed's great grandmothers and all the women in their family have worn it on their wedding day, I like the antique action with it.

Duke with Sophie

Today I made the journey up to Duke with Erica and Sophie for Sophie's nutritionist appointment. When I walked in the door I just burst out with excitement for the outfit and pigtails Sophie had on! Then she saw my bright metallic pink nails and sat down to get her toes done! Too cute! Next time we'll have a toenail painting session. Dana and Victor ~ Engagement Shoot

Yesterday I had the pleasure of starting an engagement shoot with Dana and Victor. We met at Triangle Town Center, the place of the engagement. We got to shoot for ummmm about 20 minutes before the rain got us when we were on the way to NCSU to continue the shoot. I have to say the are one of the sweetest most beautiful couples I have ever met. I can't wait to continue their shoot this weekend, hopefully rain free. Here are a few from the few minutes we shoot yesterday, I was stoked with how they turned out.

I did Amanda and Alex's engagement session in downtown Raleigh a couple of weeks ago, it threatened to storm all day but we made it without a drop of rain. I will say it was hot, it wasn't H-O-T like it has been the past few days but enough to make us sweat (I mean glow). Thanks Amanda for hanging in there while I've had my tech. problems! Sneak Peak

Today it threatened to rain and I was not a happy camper. The only wedding that has been rained out at this venue to date is mine and I was not going to have the second be one I was shooting! Other wise I was going to have to call myself the Hall and Gardens at Landmark curse! But it cleared up and the sun came out just in time for the most beautiful day! This wedding was amazing, the joining of these two families is just incredible. As you can probably see by the post time it is about 5:00am and I only slept for about 3 hours so I'm exhausted but my cold just will not let me get the sleep I so desperately need so I thought I would show off my beautiful day! More from this wonderful day in a couple of days! I'm going to try to get a few more hours of sleep!

Before I got married I lived beside Chloe and her family for something like 13 years. She was always the cutest little girl with beautiful curly hair! She has turned into a beautiful woman. This past weekend I had the pleasure of starting off my wedding season with Hilary and Adam's Emerald Isle wedding. I couldn't have asked for a more welcoming family! The weather was perfect as well as the wedding. Here are a few pictures from the day.

Monday I had the pleasure of doing senior portraits for the lovely Miss Stacey. She was adorable and I am thrilled with how they turned out! I barely did any photoshopping on any of these just a few, I'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off getting ready to leave for E.I. for a wedding this weekend! My blog isn't translating the color right for some reason so they may look a little off.

I'm not a big fan of cap and gown pictures but I thought this one was really great!

Great Strides

I met up with Jeremy and Carrie this past Saturday in Downtown Raleigh to do their engagement shoot. I must say they were one of the easiest couples to work with. I always want my bride and grooms to have a good time and for the most part pretend I'm not there, and that's what they did. They couldn't keep their eyes off each other it was adorable! I can't wait for their June wedding!

Needless to say I am waaaaay behind on my blogging! Appropriately today I'm blogging about food. Today I am starting the Daniel Fast, all I'll eat for 2 weeks is fruits, veggies, beans, and nuts. I'm eliminating all artificial anything from my diet and eating only things from the ground. This is going to be tough for me because I pretty much live on processed foods and have never done a strict diet. I'll keep you updated on how starving I am and my outcome!

So last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing the Cystic Fibrosis Master Chefs event. They had 6 that's right folks 6 courses and amazing appetizers that night. It was a great event and I know it raised lots of money for CF. Here are a few pictures from the night.

So today I went to my local camera store to get a new lighting set up for my weddings. I had every intention on getting that and a macro lens for ring and detail shots, well over an hour later I leave with a traded 17-40 4.0 for a 24-70 2.8. I'm pretty stoked even though this meant spending way more money than I planned on! More light means better reception shots, HOLLA! I've almost finished building my new set up and I'm pumped! I'm headed to Wilmington tomorrow to do an engagement session of my best friend Melissa and her fiance so be on the look out for some pics from that shoot soon! Have a great weekend!

Great Strides

As most of you know my niece Sophie has Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis is a non curable lung and digestion disease. Research to find a cure is NOT funded by the government so events like Great Strides are VERY, VERY important! If you don't know much about the disease I encourage you to go to www.cff.org to learn more. I am walking for Sophie this year as I did last but I am not going to collect under my own name just under my sister and her husbands. Yes I'm finally catching up with every other wedding photographer in the world, I'm getting a Canon 5D. I'm so super pumped that I finally got to order mine yesterday from B&H! I couldn't resist 2 day air for only $10.00 more. I will definitely be taking it out for a test drive as SOON as it hits my front door tomorrow so be on the look out for some new and improved photos. HOLLA BACK!

On a more serious note. Tricia (CFhusband.blogspot.com) got her lung transplant last night into early this morning! Please be praying for her as she is now walking the hardest part of the journey, recovery. Also pray for her family and the family of the donor.

Meet Dana and Michael. I actually went to high school with Dana and immediately recognized her last name when she emailed me because it's so unique, she on the other hand didn't realize who I was until she met with me. I guess I was a little out of the loop in high school. Dana and Michael broke the cardinal rule by dating a fellow employee, fortunately that didn't keep them away from each other. They are one of the happiest couples I've ever met! I can't wait to shoot there wedding in October. They are so fun to be around! Brittain is probably my oldest friend, not literally old but I've known her the longest:). She is getting ready to graduate from Duke as a Physicians Assistant. Not only is she brilliant but she's also beautiful, inside and out. We had a good time shooting in downtown Cary a few days ago. After the shoot we went and had some pizza at my favorite place Homegrown and went to see Atonement. It was nice to have a girls night and she was the perfect person to keep me company while Adam was out of town. Sit back and relax kids it's gonna be along post :).

I have another goal that I need your help to accomplish! This year I want to shoot my first destination wedding, bad! How bad you ask...so bad that I'll shoot it for free! All you have to do is pay me and my second shooters travel expenses (plane tickets and hotel)! What will you get from me? I will do a shoot with the bride and groom the day before or after their preference, all day wedding coverage with an assistant, and a high resolution DVD with all your digital negatives on it! Anything else you decide to order from that day with be an additional 25% off for the first year of your marrage! Sounds like a good deal to me! It's 2008 Goal time!

I sat down this weekend and wrote out all my business and personal goals for this year. I will spare you the long list but I will share a few that I need your help for! I'm trying to build my senior (high school senior) business and this year I have a very reachable goal of 50 seniors. That being said I need some senior reps for the local area schools. They can currently be seniors or up coming seniors. I already have a rep for Fuquay but I would still love to hear from you if you attend Fuquay because I'm willing to take a few more since this is my first year trying to break in to that market. I love shooting seniors b/c it's always so fun to get to know their personalities! These would all be on location shots which means they would be unique photoshoots. Busy Bee!

I apologize for my MIA status since I left for my seminar! Let me tell you the Photo Biz Boot Camp was the eye opener I needed! I will write a whole big blog about it in a couple days! I have so many changed coming your way it's mind boggling! I'm staying tight lipped about them until I get them all set in stone and done! I can't wait. My business definitely needed this kick in the butt. So I'll probably be a little lazy with the blogging for the next couple weeks while I try to get my stuff worked out, it'll be well worth the wait, I promise!

On a completely different note if you have a free minute please go by and check out Nathan's blog. His wife, Tricia has Cystic Fibrosis and they were just blessed with a baby girl named Gwyneth. Tricia was up for a double lung transplant when they learned she was pregnant and the baby came at about 24 weeks I believe. It's a really long detailed story so I'm not going to try to do it justice. Please go by and check it out and keep this wonderful family in your prayers. If you have a blog maybe do a little blurb to so the word will spread like wild fire. I don't personally know them but they have been in my heart since I read their story.

Long Overdue Post

Sorry to leave you all hanging about little Miss Sophie. She was released from the hospital on Friday night. It was purely a miracle from God that she was able to go home b/c Thursday she was a very sick little girl! She doesn't have any veins for her IV so they didn't see the point in keeping her. The down side to her not having any veins is that she will have to get a port next time she needs an IV for anything. This will stay in her until she's around 5. Please continue to pray for her b/c she is still getting pretty bad fevers every now and then.

In other news I'm in GA for a seminar until Thursday! I'm very excited and nervous at the same time. It's focused on the business side of things and I know I need help in that part! YIKES! Soooooooooo on that note I need to go do some last minute homework. You guys have a wonderful week and I'll will try to post again and let you know how its going!

Sophie Update

Fortunately Sophie's chest x-ray came back clear so that's a good thing. She will be admitted to the hospital for a few days for IV antibiotics. Her fever has broken and I'm told that she is perking up and saying hi to everyone who walks into the ER. Please continue to pray for her. Her real birthday is on Sunday and we all know that's no way to spend your 1st birthday. I'm going to see her tomorrow and put some clouds and snow flakes Uncle Adam and I made tonight on her walls. Hopefully that will brighten her day. Also pray that Josh her father has a safe trip home, he is training in Wisconsin so he won't be home until tomorrow night at 10:45 and that's just for the weekend. It's got to be hard to be away from your sick baby. Thank you in advance for all your prayers and support. They make a hard road a little bit easier.

This weekend was my niece Sophie's first birthday party! It was princess themed.

Canes Game

Adam and I had a great time at the Hurricanes game last night...even though we lost in overtime. While walking around the arena I saw a huge picture of me on a wall banner. I was a little excited since I didn't return to the Storm Squad this season. Here are some photo's of our fun times!

Happy New Year to everyone! I'm finally updating my blog, after a much needed break I'm back to the grind. It was a nice break but today I am looking at a mountain of work. Adam and I definitely needed a break after a crazy not so great 2007. This time last year I was getting ready for what was to be the best year ever. I guess all things said and done it was but we had a lot of snags that made it hard to see the gifts we were given. January 13th I became an aunt for the first time, May 12th I married the man of my dreams, and June 19th I was blessed with my first nephew.

I was originally probably going to make this a poor me last year sucked post but I've decided to leave the past in the past!

Let me tell you guys it's only the 2nd day in 2008 and it's already rocking my socks off! So far today and it's only 2:39 pm Seay Chiro has had 5 new patients call in! For people to still be in vacation mode this is awesome stuff! Adam and I get to go to a Hurricanes game tonight FOR FREE! Thanks Jon and Ryan! If you didn't know I used to be on the Carolina Hurricanes Storm Squad and quit to focus more on my photography business and have been missing it like crazy! And this weekend I booked my first real Photography Seminar! I leave in less than 2 weeks and I'm pumped! So I have decided I'm going to be positive no matter what this year!

Here are a few "resolutions".
1. Lose 10 lbs.! since getting married I've gained 5+ and 10 seems like a good number.
2. Do a meaningful devotional every day. I need more one on one time with the Lord.
3. Go to 3 or more seminars.
4. I have many other personal ones I leave off :).

So here's to having the best year ever! I can't wait! I hope your year is blessed!

My last session before the holidays. I really enjoyed this shoot, even though it was cold and cloudy outside today. I think it's my favorite shoot yet! It was really neat because when we got to the shoot Brad realized he knew Adam from high school, small world huh? I had a hard time narrowing them down but since it's 7:30p.m. and we haven't eaten yet I decided to just pick my favorite 8. So get ready for a long post kids!

My blog stalking

There are so many photographers that I look up to. I have a ritual of looking at there blogs about every hour that I'm at the computer to make sure they haven't updated them with any new wonderful photoshoots. My dream is that one day I'm that photographer to another up and coming photographer, or even an established one! It's awesome to have blogs to inspire you.
I have a whole list of equipment that I want for Christmas...now I know it's not going to happen seeing that it's like $5,000.00 + worth but a girl can dream right? Some of it's stuff I remember learning about in school and other things are from reading these talented artists blogs and seeing what they do. Hopefully the few readers I actually have will be able to notice changes in all of my stuff throughout the next few months because I sure do have some big plans for my business! Here is a list of some things to be on the look out for, if all goes as planned!

Sarah Tayler Photography to be branded (if you know someone who does logo design and does it well please give me there info!)
A new website (it's time for an update)
A new Blog! (I want to be able to make it my own and have larger images)

Kimberly and Nick's Wedding

This weekend I attended my beautiful cousin Kimberly's wedding. Of course being the geeky photographer I am I couldn't leave my camera at home so I grabbed some shots during the reception. Of course I didn't have my proper lighting and I was trying to stay out of the people who were hired to be there's way but I got a few good ones! Of course comments are always welcomed, yes I'm needy!Of course one of Sophie and Meems!

Sophie and her Christmas tree

Today I tried to do Christmas pictures of Sophie, it didn't go so well. She started out touching the tree and I think she thought it would be soft and it's prickly so from then on out every time she looked at the tree she would cry. Every time you took the present from her she would cry. I ended up with a few but not even close to what I was going for. Maybe next year!:)

I have to show off my gorgeous husband! He is the cover of a new magazine in town, Neighborhood Wellness. Not only is he handsome he is an amazing Chiropractor. This past Saturday I had the pleasure of shooting my brother and sister-in-laws family portraits at Lake Benson in Garner. I also did some for Elizabeth's sister Abby's family. It was cold out there but they were troopers! I hope you guys like them!

At work on Black Friday?

Yep that's right I'm at the office helping Adam out today. I guess it's okay seeing that I wouldn't be out shopping during this madness even if we had the day off! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, I know Adam and I did.

We started our day off with a noon lunch at Adam's grandma's house. There are so many babies there this year, we've had 4 new additions to the family just this year! My nephew Owen, Evan(in our hearts), Carsen, and the newest member Madelyn! I didn't even think to take my nice camera to the events and didn't pull out my point and shoot there, hopefully I'll get some of the pictures everyone else was taking!

Next we headed over to my sisters where my side got together at 3! Yep that's right we had to eat 3 hours after our first meal. Sweet Potato Casserole, Turkey, Ham, Broccoli Casserole, Dressing, Mac and Cheese, and much more! I'm sure I ate way to much and hopefully I'll still be able to fit into my bridesmaid dress that's being altered as we speak! It was a wonderful day and despite how hard of a year it has been I know we have so much to be thankful for! Here are a few snapshots (with my point and shoot) of Sophie, I wish I had a picture of my nephew Owen they had the same shirt on!

By far my favorite!

Just in case I don't blog again before Thursday I hope everyone has a wonderful thanksgiving! This is our first thanksgiving as a married couple so I probably should work on stretching my stomach since we have Adam's family at noon and mine at 3!

I guess I won't be losing that 5 lbs. before Grolly's wedding after all! The food will make it worth it! I personally am stoked for the pumpkin pie and moms homemade stuffing! YUM!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of photographing one of my best friends little boy Isaac! He is the cutest little thing! After Charissa and I got undistracted (if that's a word) from watching General Hospital we got to work. Isaac was a little startled by the flash to say the least but luckily I got a few good ones before he was done with me and my flash! Charissa and Steven I hope you like these! There are plenty more but I'll get those to you guys next week. I can't wait to do some more!

I think this one is my favorite!

It may be a little cheesy but I just couldn't resist it once I saw the basket of animals!

Nothing like a mothers love! Charissa you are a wonderful mother, it was a joy watching you with your beautiful son!

Brightening my own day...

When I'm having a bad day there are a few things that I know will cheer me up Prayer or any kind of God time, my husband, and playing with or taking pictures. Being so busy at the office and being down to one car between my husband and I, I haven't had a chance to actually shoot lately so I've been playing with my actions I showed you guys yesterday. Luckily I have a sitting tomorrow and Saturday so hopefully that will get me back on track! Here are some samples of what I can do with your photographs now. Yes I just posted some yesterday but today I took 2 different ones a cool one and a warm one and did multiple actions on each so you can get a better idea of what they actually do! First we have my beautiful niece, yes you've seen these pictures but they are just too cute to not stare at for hours!

***Side note if my grammar is horrendous I apologize, I'm a photographer not a writer.

Some of them are subtle but if you look closely you can see how the colors pop more, it softens the picture or completely changes it to B&W. :)

Last minute trip...

Thursday night while sitting on the couch watching The Office it dawns on Adam, he has to get his continuing education by December! The seminar he wants to go to in December is the weekend of the 1st, I quickly remind him he can't do that one because that's the weekend of Grolly's wedding! (Greg and Holly) So Friday he finds a seminar in Roanoke Virginia on rehab on Saturday! That's right folks the next day! So we quickly make plans to get down there Saturday and stay one night and come home after his class on Sunday. We called the hotel that the seminar was scheduled at and they tell us since there is a VT game we have to stay Friday and Saturday. Well that's wasn't going to work b/c we knew we would be at the office until 6:30 or so that night so we kept looking an ran across the Hotel Roanoke we booked a night and left early Saturday morning! We pull up to the hotel and Adam is like "this can't be right". I insist it is, it's a Double Tree and I remembered the picture. This place is awesome! We don't get to stay in nice hotels usually so this was a treat! I slept and watched TV all day Saturday while he was in class, lucky me! Sunday I went to the mall and drank some hot chocolate and read my Joyce Meyer's book, I Dare You. It was a nice relaxing weekend for me! We decided I needed to at least take some pictures and Adam had found a pamphlet on a natural bridge not to far away so we started driving. We drove and drove, 45 minutes later we arrive only to learn we have to pay $12.00 each and yes we are cheap so we laughed and said that's okay. We decided to head home. Here are some pictures from my not so creative trip!

Halloween Shmalloween

So last night I went to do a family portrait of my sister's family. Let me just say I thought 5:00 would be great for lighting but it was not a good time for Sophie. She didn't have a nap and that's around the time she starts winding down for bed. We are doing it over on Saturday around 10:00 hopefully that will work out a little better. Here are some of the pictures that were less than happy Sophie!

Her friend Heath came by to show us his costume, he wasn't feeling it either! Sophie wouldn't wear a costume this year.

Last but certainly not least is Carsen. I tell you what she is on the move! I think she had some of the cutest facial expressions I have ever seen in my life! What would you expect from a baby this beautiful though?

Almost all of Skylar's pictures were flawless, I'm serious! She's such a pretty little girl I think it would be impossible for anyone to get a bad picture of her. She really made my job easy. She just has this sweetest little girl in the world look in all of these, it was hard to pick just 4!

Three down one more to go! I probably go ahead and post it today seeing that tomorrow will be mighty hectic getting ready to leave for Hilton Head on Friday morning! As always thanks for checking in!

Christian was a natural, his puppy Max was not. Yes Max is adorable but man is he hyper! I got one shot of him and Christian both looking at the camera! Lucky for me it's a great shot!

I think this may be the best looking grass in all of North Carolina! My legs are finally recovering from the allergic reaction it gave me. :)

Sunday Funday!

Yesterday I had a shoot that rocked! This is the kind of shoot that you pray for! All the kids were up for anything and very photogenic! Seeing that I liked ummm lets see all of them I'm going to split them up between days so I don't blog over kill this sitting.

Kayla's first, she's a beautiful girl. Seriously be on the look out for her on ANTM in a few years! I'll try to keep all these post down to 4 pictures each. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

Like I said they were troopers, we were on snake watch doing these on the logs.

Tomorrow is one of my best friends 24th birthday and I wanted to take a few minutes and say Happy Birthday Holly! I know this will be your best year yet! Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Last weekend I had the honor of shooting the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5k at North Hills Mall. Around 2500 people made it out raising some where around $150,000! This was a great event and it is truly heart warming to see all of the people who care and want to make a difference.

So many people signed this banner, by the time it was over there was barely any room left!

Curves hosted the morning stretch, boy do they know how to get a crowed pumped up!

Thanks again to the American Cancer Society for giving me this amazing opportunity!

So I can't post anything new right now because I moved my computer to Adam's office (so I can multi task!) and I'm having internet problems! My dad, the IT genius is on his way up here to try to figure out what's going on so I can show some photo's off! I hope everyone is having a great week and you have all made it to the fair. I unfortunately am not going to get my fix of corndogs, funnels cakes, french fries, and cotton candy this year! Sad I know but I guess it's a good thing that I'm busy all week and weekend. Eat some junk for me!

So I'm starting my blog again! I took a little break there for a while but now I'm back and hopefully better than ever! Most of you probably already know but I'm no longer on the Carolina Hurricanes Storm Squad. I figured it's time for me to focus on my career and helping out Adam and his Chiropractic office. Ruth and Ray were an awesome couple to shoot! Both of them being NCSU graduates of course we did their shoot at the NC State Arboretum.

Ruth was a trooper! She actually wanted to climb in the tree with all of the ants!
